We at 94 Maidens feel compelled to speak out against the current rash of anti-Semitic acts which have included the desecration of Jewish cemeteries and recent threats against Jewish community centers. During the Holocaust, Nazis used headstones from Jewish cemeteries to pave roads, driveways, lay floors, and even decorate gates. To “tread on the dead” is the ultimate form of disrespect. It is most unholy. It shows hatred and contempt. Knocking over, destroying, and defaming headstones in a Jewish cemetery is just one step away from that. We cannot allow it. We must find the perpetrators and hold them accountable. History repeats itself. That is why we are committed to mandatory Holocaust education in every U.S. state. Ignorance breeds vile acts like these. Education is our only hope. Let’s teach our children and stand together to stop anti-Semitism in its ugly tracks. Anti-Semtiism is unacceptable and won’t be tolerated. There’s no place for it in our neighborhoods. And as President Trump made clear last night, no place for it in our country. Acts of violence will backfire as our community strengthens in its common goal to keep everyone safe and protect our religious freedoms. Liberty and justice for all. ~ The Team at 94 Maidens
